Forget The Power Suit: This Chic Office Design Is A Power SPACE

Simplicity is boss.

When L.A.-based media company Clique Media Group set out to redesign their corporate offices, they knew exactly where to turn for a seriously chic office space. Consort’s design inspiration? A minimal-modern Swedish workspace to suit the style of a modern, high-powered fashion-forward media brand. After all, as our co-founder Mat Sanders notes, “The most empowering, productive workspaces are those that are clean and fresh with a large dose of high design.”

Clean simplicity was key to giving the office its own version of a metaphorical power suit, creating a strong, sophisticated space that balances fashion and function. Designing an office space is quite different from the process of designing a home, and for good reason. “A home is where you want to unwind and recharge,” muses Sanders, “While an office is where you want to feel empowered and productive.”

We collaborated with our friends at Wayfair for a final design that promotes productivity, creativity, collaboration, and stylishness all at the same time. “Creating social zones were key in cultivating a sense of community and creativity among the employees,” Sanders notes. “Casual meeting rooms, various lounge areas, and outdoor spaces encourage people to meet away from their desks and put their heads together.”

Though we kept a focused neutral palette of greys, taupes, and walnut throughout the majority of the space, we did find a few opportunities to incorporate Consort’s signature playfully chic details. “Here and there, we broke out of the palette to serve up a little Consort surprise in saturated upholstery moments, like royal blue velvet lounge chairs in the lobby and an eggplant sofa in one of the executive offices,” says Sanders. Vintage rugs and warm upholstery throughout create a sense of coziness against the architectural bones of the building.

One of our favorite unique touches are a pair of vintage arm chairs in the executive office, a rare find from the Brimfield Flea Market. Says Sanders, “We loved the French-modern inspired lines, and the army canvas upholstery really elevated the look.”
